Back on the plains in 2019 to share in nature's spectacle

Day 2 – The day the storms died

On day 2 we woke up to a Slight risk from Dallas down to Houston, with the continuing storms further east out of reach further east. Unfortunately again it didn’t happen for us. The cloud stayed thick and grey in the chase zone which ruined any chance for anything spectacular. Storms did get going at about 5pm, but the surface heating just wasn’t there. We were treated so some pretty fantastic rainfall and some pretty cloudscapes near College Station in Texas, and also had some time to explore some proper Wild West Towns, sadly pretty run down as the life had been sucked out of them by the strip malls and Walmarts down the road. Now we’re looking at several days’ quiet time so the trip will be turning from stormchasing to tourism as we head east towards Louisiana and then up into America’s heartland. Think Memphis might be on the cards. Will get back to posting when the storms return
