A pretty quiet day all round today. There was not much in the way of action anywhere today. There were a couple of severe warned storms to our south, but none remained warned for that long. It does look like there will be some overnight thunder in the town of Valentine, our pitstop for the night though.
Valentine is an old Wild-West sort of town. I’m really starting to realise quite how rural it is out here in the high plains. We barely saw other vehicles on the roads today, which makes for an enjoyable drive. Anyway we elected to stay here in Valentine as it sets us up for what should be a more interesting day tomorrow. The weather channel thinks there is a small chance of tornadoes close to the Nebraska/South Dakota border though I’m not yet sure I agree. The really intresting stuff starts from Saturday. It looks like we will have 3 or 4 consecutive days of pretty crazy weather. The media are bandying round terms like ‘significant outbreak’, so it looks like there will be plenty to keep us busy.
Until then, sleep….
