Back on the plains in 2019 to share in nature's spectacle

Denver

Safe and sound in Denver, and already things are starting to pick up as we look over the next few days. It looks like all the action over the weekend is going to kick off up in the High Plains. There is also a slight risk of severe weather down in Texas today (see the spc forecast below) but unfortunately its just a bit too far South considering that we haven’t set up any of our gear yet, and all of the subsequent action appears to be much further north as the week develops. Also the tornado risk on the Texas storms is pretty low (2%), though some big hail is expected.

We thought about it, but there is no way we’d realistically get there in time and be ready to catch anything interesting.

But anyway the first pin goes on our map today, Denver, Colorado. Our plan is to head up towards Nebraska/South Dakota, in the direction of Rapid City – though we might not make it that far, keeping an eye out for any good, if non severe, weather.
